You'll explore managing food safety and quality throughout the supply chain and learn to design and implement food safety management systems compliant with national and international regulations. Delivered by experts from NRI, the programme is enriched with research insights and industry expertise.

Internship

After successful completion of the taught programme, students will participate in an internship with a UK food sector employer in a role which aligns with your interests. It equips you for managerial positions across the food supply chain and governmental roles in food safety legislation. Additionally, practical experience in the food industry could be a vital for aspiring entrepreneurs seeking to establish their own ventures.

  • Actively supported to get a paid placement: We work with an experienced graduate recruitment specialist (STEP) who provides students additional support in getting students placement-ready for their ideal food sector placement. Students participate in preparatory sessions and workshops to gain confidence in making applications. Students are further partnered with an academic mentor for support and guidance during the placement period. 
  • Our teaching is directly informed by cutting-edge research and industry trends: Our curriculum is both relevant and future-focused. The team that leads this programme is made up of food safety and quality specialists. Research includes areas such as antimicrobial resistance, understanding the role of foodborne pathogens within the agroecosystem, new product development, food safety, laboratory quality management and alternative proteins.
  • International HACCP certification: Students are awarded an opportunity to achieve a Royal Society of Public Health HACCP certification upon completion of their programme. This certification is a requirement in most food industries and gives our students a head start.
  • Accredited by the Institute of Food Science and Technology (IFST): As a member of IFST, the leading independent voice and membership body for those interested in food science and technology, members have access to the IFST database of members, the Student Career LaunchPad, reduced rates, the IFST student community, and supportive services.
