Immerse yourself in an interdisciplinary environmental science programme designed to address the scale and urgency of the climate crisis. This programme is accredited by the Community for Environmental Disciplines in Higher Education (CEDHE), the education committee of the Institution of Environmental Sciences (IES).

Enrol in our MSc Global Environmental Change with Industrial Placement programme to gain a comprehensive understanding of how large-scale environmental changes impact quality of life on a local level. Explore climate change, environmental regulation, meteorology, and sustainability under the guidance of NRI's recognised faculty. Recent interdisciplinary research spans topics from climate adaptation in agriculture to food security and equity issues. Develop practical skills in areas like geographic information systems and carbon footprinting, while engaging with vital topics such as climate mitigation and adaptation.  

Internship

As part of this programme, you will have the opportunity to work as a paid intern with a UK environmental sector employer and gain technical experience in an environmental industry position.

Programme Team

The programme team includes individuals across the social, economic and environmental sciences with many years of experience in conducting and leading research both in the UK and in climate-impacted regions across the world. A Staff membet who teaches on this programme has served as lead author within several IPCC assessment reports.  

Career Opportunities

Graduates of the MSc will be equipped for careers in the environmental and urban and rural development sectors. Potential future workplaces include private companies, NGOs, ministries, funding agencies and national research institutes. Graduates may also be able to continue to a research degree (MPhil/PhD).
