Knowledge for a sustainable world

The Natural Resources Institute is delighted to be co-funding a British Council GREAT scholarship for Sustainable Futures. We are looking for a postgraduate student from Vietnam to study on either our MSc Agriculture for Sustainable Development, or our MSc Global Environmental Change programme.

This scholarship also provides opportunities to engage in COP26 activities via a global programme led by the British Council ahead of the 26th UN Climate Change Conference (COP26) in Glasgow in November 2021.Vietnam ducks 4958741 750

This scholarship is an exciting opportunity for an individual who is passionate about developing their skills across different disciplines relevant to sustainability, whilst working with other international students in a collaborative, research-informed environment.

Both MSc programmes attract students from around the world, many of whom have gone on to work for agricultural and environmental ministries, environmental consultancy companies and environmental training organisations.

We look forward to receiving applications from qualified people from Vietnam to join the MSc programme in September 2021. Scholarship applications are open until 31st May.

The Global Environmental Change programme combines natural science bio-physical topics on climate change and climate adaptation, with more applied topics such as approaches and policies for sustainability and responsible business for natural resources management.

Agriculture for Sustainable Development combines integrated pest management, agronomy and plant physiology with more social-science focused modules on agricultural innovation for development and economics, agriculture and marketing.

They both focus on delivery of skills for assessing, and providing solutions for, the type of system-level challenges faced in rapidly developing regions like Vietnam.

NRI has had connections with Vietnamese researchers and national and non-governmental organisations since the early 1990s. Research collaborations and capacity building activities have included work on integrated pest management, food quality control, fisheries marketing, water resources training, environmental journalism and reducing the impact of plastic waste.

NRI staff are keen to support master’s student learning via teaching and research project supervision.
