The vision of the Food Systems and Nutrition research group is to undertake innovative and impactful interdisciplinary food systems research for improved diets, nutrition and health worldwide. As the largest research group within the Food Systems Research Centre at NRI, the group leverages a wide range of interdisciplinary expertise to target pressing nutritional issues across the globe, drawing on strong partnerships and extensive fieldwork experience – particularly in low- and middle-income countries. Focal themes for research include food and nutrition security, the lived experience of food environments, sustainable and equitable diets, the political economy of food systems, school feeding programmes, as well as food loss and waste reduction from a nutrition perspective. A sample of some of our ongoing projects and activities is provided below for reference. The group also supports research degree students undertaking food systems and nutrition related research, both in the UK and internationally.
